SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: TOP 20 Dance
Finally, the TOP 20 Finalists perform full routines for our votes. Up to this point we have only seen clips of some and we're just getting to know others. Though the dancers have had to go through so much to get to the finals, this is where it really begins for us. We get to see the best of them in their genre and how strong they can be outside their element. It's no longer about labeling themselves Contemporary, Hip Hop or Ballroom; but proving to us to be a complete dancer. Let the dancing begin...then stick around to dish on your favorites!
RAYVEN ARMIJO & JAMIE BAYARD: Hip Hop
Choreography is always key and proved to be a hit; with Rayven & Jamie in control of every move. With Rayven having a Ballet background and Jamie being our Ballroom boy, they far exceeded my expectations. I never doubted them though because they did have to bring it all in the audition rounds. Tonight they proved that they belong in the TOP 20. Rayven gave a sweet touch to the dance with her front handspring over Jamie's knees. Jamie gave a confusing impression in his underwear...but I'll let you decide
SUSIE GARCIA & MARQUIS CUNNINGHAM: (Swedish?) Waltz
Susie & Marquis may have gotten the dance with, what looks to be, the least amount of energy. But they had to prove themselves on a different level..it's all about control here. They delivered a beautiful Waltz full of grace and elegance. Marquis' dance experience is fully evident with his remarkable lines, strong lunges and body movement. Susie showed adaptability and was the beauty of the ballroom. Here are two people, from different worlds, who made it look like they had been connected for years.
KOURTNI LIND & MATT DORAME: Jazz
I will say that Kourtni & Matt did the best they could with what they were given. I knew by the song, Tainted Love, that it would be fun and entertaining but the song just wasn't enough. The judges know the choreographers so I don't think they're fully honest about it...but I am
Because the song has so many strong beats, sometimes Kourtni & Matt were not doing that much waiting for those beats. What I'm getting at is I think it could've used more substance. Aside from that, Kourtni & Matt are a hot couple and rocked it tonight!
CHELSEA TRAILLE & THAYNE JASPERSON: Cha Cha
First I'd like to say that I think Chelsea & Thayne have 2 of the sweetest personalities; which they also exuded in their Cha Cha. But that's not all they showed off. Wow! Thayne is quite the booty shaker. Chelsea can shake a mean booty too but Thayne gets his moving triple speed!
For neither of them having Latin dance experience, this was a fantastic performance. They are a perfect pair, with huge energy and a great connection!
CHELSIE HIGHTOWER & MARK KANEMURA: Contemporary
Definitely an interesting concept. Chelsie & Mark danced to Mia Michaels interpretation of Tim Burton's wedding. I really enjoyed it even though it was more about the story than substance. I say that knowing the level of dance these two are capable of. Chelsie moved around beautifully and was poised in her lifts. Mark, on the other hand, didn't get the opportunity to showcase his amazing talent. But I did enjoy his little, strange solo he got. BTW, Mia was way too hard on Mark during rehearsals. Props to Chelsie for showing her confidence in him.
KHERINGTON PAYNE & TWITCH BOSS: Broadway
The stage was set and Kherington & Twitch were hot on Broadway tonight baby! Kherington is one hot diva; all attitude and grin. She brought the sass all the way to the show. Twitch was the perfect leading man. His charm and hip hop vibe was all he needed to steal the show. I loved seeing Twitch in a different element. I had so much fun watching. Thanks for the free ticket to this amazing performance!
COMFORT FEDOKE & CHRIS JAROSZ: Jive
The best transformation of the night goes to Comfort. The best "non tree-like personality" goes to Chris. The most impressive opening and ending in a performance goes to Comfort & Chris. They were given the high energy and intense Jive and definitely didn't hold back. Chris really stepped it up. He was full of intensity and facial expressions. He will for sure have the judges impressed. I give Comfort huge kudos for stepping into a completely new element and fully immersing herself in it. Great performance.
KATEE & JOSHUA: Hip Hop
I am so impressed. What an amazingly choreographed hip hop love story. Joshua was going off to war and Katee hit every emotion of that beautifully. Katee & Joshua are a serious threat tonight. Katee nailed it keeping up with hip hop king, Joshua. Incredible...what more can I say.
JESSICA & WILL: Tango
Will was a true leader in this Tango. He's powerful and sharp. Jessica gave a good effort. She was beautiful to watch regardless of the few slips in her heels. The judges gave huge props to the choreographer but I wish I would've seen a little bit more of the ending- meaning it would have been nice to see Jessica's feet off the ground in another lift. But overall, Jessica and Will proved their Latin talent on the dance floor.
COURTNEY & GEV: Disco
Where is Gev hiding all those muscles?
They had an amazing lift...so high five to Gev for keeping it strong. Courtney & Gev kept it fun and full of attitude. They delivered a 70's vibe with a 21st century impression on Disco. Courtney was full of spunk and I completely disagree with the judges because I don't think Gev was lacking anything. He contributed just as much personality as Courtney. I loved it.
This is going to be an exciting 4th season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! Yay! We have an amazing TOP 20 and I can't even imagine who's going to be sent home tomorrow. Can they all stay another week? :0

Chelsea and Thayne are my favorites after the first week. Of course that can change after the competition goes on. But I loved their cha cha.
