SUPERSTARS of DANCE: Eric Luna & Georgia Ambarian of USA Eliminated

It is Week 3 of SUPERSTARS of DANCE. Are viewers increasing in numbers or dropping off the radar? I hate to be Debbie Downer but what's the deal-e-o here? Is America so use to supporting our own rising stars of dance that we can't hold onto the concept of other countries competing with us? Or is it the judges that add a negative element to the show when actually, we like calling in and voting for OUR favorites? There was so much criticism tonight from the judges that I would've preferred Simon Cowell be the sole judge; as there probably would've been a kinder outcome..if you can believe that.

I believe I have the answer to why SUPERSTARS of DANCE has mixed reviews. Here it is, ready for it? You can't possibly give an accurate judgment when scoring two totally different styles of dance with the same skill level against each other. How can you compare the two? It's complicated to say the least! But my show must go on. Last week was highlights but tonight I have too much to say so I have to break it down. FYI to those new to Dance Dish- I'm usually pretty positive but tonight allow me to vent on some judges and wardrobe selection. Thanks.

ADVANCING TO FINALS

CHINA- (Kung Fu)- SHAOLIN MONKS
The Shaolin Munks gave a masterful performance of Kung Fu, dance, and gymnastics. They have amazing precision in their technique. I can't believe the young kid who did a back HEAD spring (not hand spring, he used his head). They are the Groovaloos of China. I absolutely love this group! (The US judge should've given them a 10. They had way more than martial arts like he stated; as they do similar tricks as The Groovaloos). But that's just my opinion.

AUSTRALIA- (Latin Dance)- HENRY BYALIKOV & GISELLE PEACOCK
Henry & Giselle
brought the heat tonight and an overflow of Latin flavor! The choreography had an amazing tribal vibe that got me all fired up. Henry was all man and led Giselle to a stunning performance this week. Every single beat was strong and impressive.

NO FINALS FOR THE FOLLOWING

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA- (Ballroom Cabaret)- ERIC LUNA & GEORGIA AMBARIAN
I am once again amazed by the strength of Eric Luna and the confidence of the two. They are proof that you don't have to have a fast paced Samba or Kung Fu fighting moves to be a good dancer in this competition. They danced to one of my favorite songs, "Apologize." It was a moving performance. It's unfortunate the judges didn't agree with me. What is the South African judge thinking? A 5? He said Eric wasn't strong and their bodies weren't extended. Are you kidding me? They are all about strength and extension. Nonsense. Told you I had to vent! Great performance
Eric & Georgia!

RUSSIA- (Ballroom)- PASHA & ALIONA RIAZANTSEV
I have never understood "Quick Change" artists. It baffles my mind. Forget the dancing right now, I REALLY want to know how they change their outfits in two seconds. It amazes me but doesn't make sense to me. Please someone, reveal the secret asap! I'll be waiting!

INDIA- (Classical Dance of South India)- MYTHILI PRAKASH
When I watch Mythili dance I think of South Africa's soloist. They both tell a story that leaves me thinking it's powerful and wondering the root of it. Here comes the but...but, they can't leave out of the dance content in a dance competition.

IRELAND- (Lord of Dance)- TEAM IRELAND
It's almost impossible to give a negative critique to this group. It was a beautiful performance. They are professionals who are always in step and never out of line. I'm entertained.

SOUTH AFRICA- (Zulu)- MAMELA NYAMZA
The best part, second to her artistry, was watching the audience reactions. Mamela is so unique and raw in her movements that people watch with expressions of confusion at times; trying to figure out her story. I'm conflicted this week. Though she had strong moments, the dance as a whole wasn't equally strong. She needed to shine as brightly as she did in Week 1.

ARGENTINA- (Jazz Cabaret)- CAROLINA CERISOLA
Carolina's
first week's performance was definitely a classier act. This was all booty and breast shaking..to the extreme! She proved she can move but a mom in the audience said it best when she covered her little boys' eyes. Even Edyta Sliwinska wears more than Carolina did tonight. FYI, we usually don't wear thong bottoms on National TV in the US. At least not on networks where little boys and girls are watching. .

INDIA- (Bollywood)- TEAM INDIA
This number was MUCH better than last week. They had clean, sharp movements with a very unique flare. I loved the energy they brought to the dance. I apparently enjoyed it way more than the judges, big surprise.

IRELAND- (Irish Dance)- BERNADETTE FLYNN
Irish dancing is so captivating with Bernadette being so light and quick on her feet. She danced beautifully. Why were her scores so low? This is her genre of dance; it can't be compared to other styles like the judges tend to do. Just judge her on her dance. Grrrr.

IT WAS A TOUGH NIGHT OF DANCE SINCE ONLY TWO GROUPS THAT DANCED MADE IT TO THE FINALS. STICK AROUND ANOTHER WEEK TO SUPPORT THE UNITED STATES. WE CAN'T BE THE ONES TO FALL OFF THE RADAR OF SUPERSTARS OF DANCE WHEN THE UNITED STATES IS IN 2ND PLACE. LET'S RALLY AROUND AND WIN THIS FOR THE HOME TEAM!

MASTER SCOREBOARD

1) AUSTRALIA            414
2) UNITED STATES    413
3) IRELAND                 409
4) SOUTH AFRICA     401
5) INDIA                        391
6) ARGENTINA            344
7) RUSSIA                   342

Thanks for hanging in there with me!
