AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW: Southern Movement voted off in close battle against Rhythm City

AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW, Season 4: Southern Movement Voted Off
The Fresh Dish will be back next week!

It's Week 3 of ABDC and the hottest night of Season 4. Before we learned of the fate of Southern Movement, we got a nice surprise and blast from the past with Season 3's Steve Terada of Quest Crew as the crews' Martial Arts expert and coach this week. Need I really say more? Let's get right to the dish!

WEEK 3 DISH

AFROBORIKE- Capoeira- I Know You Want Me
It's about time Afroborike starts the shows. None of this save the best for last of past weeks. America's Best Dance Crew needed to come out blazin in Week 3 and OH YEAH, nothing but FIRE baby! First, they had a great song to work with that catered to their Latin vibe. And then to have to incorporate Capoeira with Salsa was definitely an innovative move for a Latin/Hip Hop crew. What I love about this crew is they are made up of three dance partnerships. It's all about team work and they have perfected it; even Capoeira style. (Wow! The judges hit them hard. Were we watching the same performance?)

WE ARE HEROES- Karate- Starstruck
I must say I am pleasantly surprised by our girls of Popping in Ka-ra-te meets dance. They played it smart by fully utilizing the challenge and playing to the music with all those kicks and punches, on beat, to the sound effects. It reminded me of an action scene from a movie. They were no Karate Kid but they were We Are Heroes; and that says enough. There is one negative here though; and that's the whole idea of the challenges. I know they are entertaining, and as much as I love seeing what they bring to the dance floor with the challenges, I also miss what we grew to love about the crews in Week 1...their individual styles. (I agree JC Chasez, their finale "tower" move was not smooth. It needs to flow without hesitation or don't go there at all.)

VOGUE EVOLUTION- Kung Fu- Work
Fierce! If only you could hear me and see me working it out as I say FIERCE! As soon I start talking about Vogue Evolution my whole attitude changes. They're bringing out a feisty side of me!! Watch out! Yeah right, I'd have to take personal Vogue Evolution lessons to get a touch of what they have. Especially when there's a cage involved. I say it was fitting for when there are five tigers prowling around America's Best Dance Crew! I loved their performance. They had amazing energy and brought something fresh to the floor tonight. Didn't it look like they stole a line dance from Southern Movement? Watch it back and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! The only negative was the crash. It broke the energy of the dominant tigers- they're not suppose to crash and fall. Maybe I was just getting way into the story. (Shane Sparks, what a buzz kill on those comments! )

MASSIVE MONKEYS- Extreme Martial Arts- Bounce
The power houses of America's Best Dance Crew are the Massive Monkeys. It's hard to compete with their strength and high flying moves as it is and then ABDC goes and gives them Martial Arts. I'd say that's a mark in the advantage box for this crew; of which I am not complaining about.  I was highly entertained. How could you not be? They did what they do best- flew around the stage like lil, oh excuse me, MASSIVE Monkeys. Next time I want to see more dancing but I realize the Extreme Martial Art challenge dominated Week 3. Who thinks this crew is going to win this season? They've got the ABDC look but I'm not calling it. I'm scared to go there. lol

BEAT YA FEET KINGS- Tae Kwon Do- Chillin
Oh Beat Ya Feet Kings, why do you pull me in two directions? There is so much I LOVED about this master mix of your style of footwork and Tae Kwon Do but there was also so much of that not happening too. What I'm trying to say is...when they were hot they were HOT, when they slowed down I started to lose interest. Beat Ya Feet Kings have such an innovative twist on their moves that they need to keep the momentum going throughout so we can be wowed. Bust out those feet the entire minute and a half...especially when it's part of the challenge too. Sometimes creating a story isn't worth it if your feet stop moving for half the performance. But to end on a positive note and to repeat myself one more time, the hot parts were HOT!

RHYTHM CITY- Muay Thai- LaLaLa
Go Rhythm City, GO Rhythm City, GO! My favorite part- CHICK DOMINATION! Haha! Dominique Rosario led this Muay Thai beat down and kicked some Rhythm City bootie. It's all about winning America's Best Dance Crew, even if you have to take out your team for a victory for the team. The best of the night by a landslide. Wanna know why? They kept it fast, kept moving to every beat! They had a story but didn't let the story dominate the performance. My golden rule of ABDC- dance first, story second. Got it? Don't break my golden rule and you'll get Dance Dish props. Rhythm City rocks. Props on the Muay Thai step-up back flips and an overall outstanding night on the ABDC stage.

SOUTHERN MOVEMENT- Kali- Ugly
Southern Movement
had an overall great performance. I know they brought more funk than last week. I am seriously in awe of how much more attitude they brought this week- they killed it. Out of all the crews, Southern Movement had the toughest challenge with the sticks. The props could have been limiting but instead, made Southern Movement unique and just plain awesome. I'm writing this already know they were voted off and I'm shocked. Well, I would be shocked if they weren't up against Rhythm City. They gave a performance that wasn't worthy of elimination but it's also a great way to go out. Great job on America's Best Dance Crew, Rhythm City! You are welcome at DanceDish.com anytime! Our crew with battle out yours- haha!

FAREWELL SOUTHERN MOVEMENT! AS FOR THE REST OF YOU, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK! WE'LL BE BACK WITH THE FRESH DISH!

Sincerely,

Tami Daniels
